Taqen
Desktop & Mobile App (WIP)

Overview
Taqen is management software for CrossFit boxes, and it started with a friend who is opening his own gym. So I am building the software — class booking, memberships, a CRM for the people who walk through the door, payments and the day-to-day admin — as one product, for the person behind the desk as much as for the athlete on their phone.

Challenge
Before I could design any of it I had to learn how a box runs day to day — not the business behind it, but the operations the software has to carry: the athlete who freezes their membership for a month, the class that gets cancelled after people have booked, the drop-in who turns up at nine without an account, the coach who wants the attendance list on their phone five minutes before the session. Designing for a gym that has not opened yet means there is no usage to look at, only a week in the life of a box, and every one of those corner cases turns into admin for whoever is behind the desk. The product has to cover all of it and still be light enough that it does not need somebody glued to a screen to keep it running.

Solution
The functionality is all there: booking and class capacity, member profiles and history, memberships and payments, and the admin around them. What is not there yet is what only real use gives you. The app is still being built and is not fully available, and it will keep changing once the box opens and the first month of actual bookings shows which assumptions were wrong.

In progress — the box has not opened yet, so the product is still being built and the images above are placeholders.
